Cloud Engineer
Summary
Speria is hiring a hands-on Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and support customer-facing Microsoft Azure environments across EMEA — covering infrastructure, networking, monitoring, troubleshooting, and customer onboarding/go-lives, with PowerShell automation. Requires 5+ years in cloud/infrastructure engineering with strong production Azure experience.
About the Opportunity
Speria is looking for a hands-on Cloud Engineer to support customer-facing Microsoft Azure environments across EMEA. This role combines cloud infrastructure engineering, systems administration, production operations, deployment support, and direct customer interaction. You will help build new environments, keep live platforms healthy, troubleshoot customer-impacting issues, and improve reliability through monitoring, automation, documentation, and repeatable operating practices.
This is not a traditional help desk role or a purely architectural position. It is designed for an engineer who enjoys both creating infrastructure and owning what happens after it goes live.
Speria provides enterprise technology that helps the live animal protein industry use real-time information to improve operational insight and responsible production across the supply chain.
What You Will Do
- Design, deploy, configure, and support Microsoft Azure infrastructure for customer environments.
- Manage Azure networking, compute, storage, identity, monitoring, security, databases, and application-hosting components within the scope of the role.
- Support customer onboarding, environment provisioning, implementations, go-lives, production cutovers, and post-deployment stabilization.
- Monitor environment health, availability, performance, capacity, and cloud cost signals; identify and drive improvement opportunities.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, connectivity, database, performance, and Azure platform issues affecting live customer environments.
- Review logs and monitoring data, identify root causes, resolve issues independently where possible, and escalate effectively when development or other specialists are needed.
- Automate repetitive operational and administrative work with PowerShell.
- Improve alerts, monitoring coverage, runbooks, standards, documentation, and repeatable operating procedures.
- Work directly with customer IT teams on Azure, networking, security, connectivity, deployment, and incident-related needs.
- Partner across Engineering, Infrastructure, Projects, Product, Development, and customer-facing teams.
- Participate in occasional after-hours or weekend work when required for approved customer go-lives or production cutovers.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, infrastructure operations, or a related technical role.
- Strong hands-on Microsoft Azure experience in production environments.
- Experience with Azure networking, compute, storage, identity, monitoring, and security.
- Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and automation, supported by practical examples.
- Windows Server and systems administration experience.
- Experience supporting production systems, customer-facing applications, hosted cloud environments, or B2B SaaS platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting, incident-response, root-cause analysis, documentation, and continuous-improvement skills.
- Confidence communicating in English with internal stakeholders and external customer IT teams.
- A proactive operating mindset focused on preventing incidents, not only reacting to them.
Helpful, but Not Required
- Terraform or another Infrastructure as Code platform.
- Azure App Insights, Stackify, Redgate, SQL Monitor, or comparable monitoring and observability tools.
- Azure SQL, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, Databricks, Git, or CI/CD pipeline exposure.
- Microsoft Azure certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or similar.
- Experience in an MSP, consulting, implementation, or multi-customer cloud environment.
- Python or Bash scripting; cloud cost optimization; SOC 2 or ISO 27001 familiarity.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams. German language capability is a plus if aligned to the final market strategy.
How Success Will Be Measured
- Reliable deployment and support of customer Azure environments.
- Successful customer onboarding, go-live, and post-deployment stabilization.
- Stronger EMEA cloud support coverage during European business hours.
- Timely, well-communicated resolution of infrastructure, networking, connectivity, and platform issues.
- Improved monitoring, automation, documentation, and operational repeatability.
- Strong collaboration with internal teams and customer IT stakeholders.
